How does laser acupuncture work?
After a thorough intake and examination is performed, Dr. Skokos will determine which acupoints must be treated utilizing the laser. Once determined, she will apply the laser beam on each point anywhere from 10 seconds to several minutes—depending on the condition being treated. By using the low energy laser beams, various points are stimulated to create the desired effect. It is an excellent means of promoting “qi” (pronounced “chi”) or energy throughout the body’s meridians and channels. How is this done? The laser beam increases ATP production or cellular energy; promotes oxygen to the area; and improves the production of collagen in various tissues of the body. The end result? Inflammation is reduced; lymphatic activity and cellular metabolism is promoted; circulation is improved; and the immune system is strengthened. Ultimately, the laser acupuncture assists the body to in less time.
